Designing From the Saddle: The Story Behind Halt Equestrian
Halt was built in the stables—and shaped by a family legacy of creativity and design.
From an early age, I was completely immersed in the world of horses. Raised in Nottinghamshire, I spent most of my time riding, mucking out, and learning everything the equestrian lifestyle could teach me. But away from the yard, there was another influence quietly weaving itself into my story—clothing, design, and the creative bloodline I come from.
A Family Threaded in Design
Design isn’t just something I learned—it’s in my DNA.
My grandad was a road bike designer, most famously designing the iconic Chopper bike, a true symbol of British innovation and style. His work taught me the power of practical creativity—how design should solve problems, feel good, and look great.
My uncle ran vintage clothing stores on Brick Lane for years. While I didn’t grow up in London and wasn’t involved in the day-to-day, I’ve always loved vintage fashion. Every time I visited, I was inspired by the unique pieces, the storytelling in the fabric, and the sense of individuality. That love for character and history still influences how I think about style today.
My dad has owned clothing stores for most of his life. He taught me the value of fabric, fit, and flair—and how to run a business with both passion and practicality. I spent years surrounded by rails of clothing, soaking in the rhythm of retail and the artistry behind garments that last.
So while I was out in the countryside learning the rhythm of horses and riding, I was also absorbing a deep love for design—from the people who lived and breathed it.
From the Yard to Your Wardrobe
Riding has never been just a hobby—it’s a lifestyle. I’ve lived through the awkward seams, the sagging tights, the layers that don’t breathe. That’s why Halt was born from real rider experience. I don’t design for models—I design for the riders who are up at dawn, rain or shine, because horses don’t wait.
Each piece in the collection is tested by me, refined by me, and most importantly—designed with purpose. Sometimes I collaborate on tech packs for technical pieces, but the soul of every product comes from my hands-on life with horses.
The Halt Cycle: Built for the Long Ride
One of the things I’m most proud of is our Halt Cycle—our take-back scheme designed to reduce waste and preserve the equestrian ecosystem.
We know riders wear their kit hard. And rather than letting used gear go to landfill, we’ve created a circular system to give pieces a second life. Whether it's resold, repurposed, or recycled, the Halt Cycle reflects the care we take not only in our design—but in the impact we leave behind.
It’s not just about producing more. It’s about producing thoughtfully, and making sure nothing goes to waste when it’s no longer needed.
Halt: More Than Just a Brand
This isn’t fast fashion.
It’s a blend of heritage, function, and a deep understanding of the equestrian lifestyle.
When someone wears Halt, I want them to feel confident, capable, and connected to the ride. Every product is made to move with you, support you, and reflect the individuality that every rider brings to the saddle.
Because for me, Halt isn’t just a business.
It’s a lifetime of passion—brought to life in every stitch.
Thanks for being part of the journey.
